Charli XCX: "I definitely will be making music next year"

Nog meer nieuwe muziek?

Afgelopen jaar kwam Charli XCX met haar nieuwe album Charli, de opvolger van SUCKER en Pop 2. Maar je hoeft niet bang te zijn dat het daar voorlopig bij blijft. Charli: “I’m really restless. I need to be creating all the time. I don’t now that an album will come. I will make it and It’ll be ready. It’s just wether everybody around me can get that shit together and make it happen. But I definitely will be making music."

Hoge verwachtingen

Vera vraagt aan Charli hoe ze omgaat met hoge verwachtingen van fans en hoe ze reageren op Charli online. Charli: “When it’s fans, it’s easy to accept it. When they want new music, it’s easy to ignore in a sense like: it will come, it will happen. I know that they mean well, but nog getting it right away. When it’s not fans, but people who are annoyed by something I’ve said, then it’s difficult and it get’s hard because you get sucked in to that world. And that stuff you really have to ignore. So with fans it’s fun banter, but the other stuf: I hate that shit.”

Wat nemen we mee naar 2020?

Sinds het einde van jaar nadert en 2020 heel dichtbij komt, wil Vera graag van Charli weten of we de nineties nostalgie meenemen naar de twenties. Of zijn we wellicht al klaar voor zeroes nostalgie? Charli: "Both nineties and zeroes nostalgia are in right now. But maybe it has to be seventies or eighties nostalgia." Interesting!

En voor het geval je een huisfeestje geeft tijdens oud en nieuw óf in het nieuwe jaar, heeft the Queen of Houseparties een tip voor je: regel een goede dj, of een goede playlist.
