De nieuwe EP 'Chewing Cotton Wool' kwam uit in Augustus, dus sprak 3FM-dj Vera Siemons met Amber Bain.

Accepting
De nieuwe EP telt vier nieuwe nummers. In het nummer 'Dionne' wordt verwezen naar een moment in de tourbus waarbij Dionne Warwick werd gedraaid en één van de bandleden in huilen uitbarsten. Amber: "For some reason it really affected me. Everyone was pretending that we were fine, but when a perfect song comes on and is about relationships and heartbreaks, it digs into your soul. That symbolized quite a lot for me. So this song is about accepting you’re not over a relationship. Kind of a lot of the EP is. Accepting that you need to move on and you’ve been kind of lying to yourself."
Isolation
Er zit niet veel tijd tussen het debuutalbum 'Good At Falling' (2019) en deze nieuwe EP. Hoe was het voor Amber om tijdens de lockdown te schrijven? "I found writing in isolation quite difficult, because it wasn’t very inspiring. And I’ll I hear was the insane kind of albums that were bound to come out being at home, being away from someone, or being stuck."
Dronken op het podium
Hoe de rest van het jaar eruit ziet voor The Japanese House? In ieder geval nog geen tour, want dat zit er nog niet in. Maar dat vindt Amber zelf niet zo heel erg: "Not being to tour isn't the worst thing in the world for me. I needed a break from it. I miss it now and that's a good thing, but after being months on tour, I hate it. Sometimes I look really moody and then I get drunk because I'm halfway through a tour and I'm bored."
