Since 2004 the National Radio Station 3FM in The Netherlands (in the UK this would be BBC Radio 1) organises a charity event of 7 days to raise money for a charity.
Three radio DJ’s live for 6 days in a Glass House while making radio. They are
not allowed to eat nor use social media.

People can donate either online and request a song for their donation or bring cash and put it though the flap of the letterbox opening made in the Glass House.

At the end of the Glass House event of 2006, I purchased the tray that was used to collect they money from the letterbox.
This was the start of my addiction with the Glass House event of 3FM: I
returned the tray to all subsequent Glass Houses and managed to get it back after the event.

18 Years later, the Glass House still exists, and this year money is raised for
metabolic disorder. Children with inborn errors of metabolism are born seemingly healthy, but due to a 'writing error' in their DNA, their energy management does not work properly. Metabolic disorder causes life-threatening energy shortages and serious damage in the body due to unprocessed waste products. The consequences can vary from child to child: some become deaf, blind, become mentally or physically handicapped or forget who their parents are. Many children die at a very young age: 1 in 4 does not live past the age of 18.
Without treatment, a metabolic disorder is fatal for everyone.

Metabolic disorder is considered as the main cause of child deaths in The
Netherlands.

With this action, money is collected to support the research on treatments for the 1900 inherited disorders of metabolism.
